Quick question...

Where are your shoulders right now?

If the answer is somewhere near your ears, you're definitely not alone.

It's amazing how much tension we carry around without even noticing.

We sit at the computer.

We drive.

We answer emails.

We scroll our phones.

We think about the 47 things we need to do tomorrow.

And somehow our shoulders decide they need to be involved in all of it.

I see it all the time in yoga classes.

Someone arrives with a sore neck or tight shoulders and by the end of class they're moving more freely and wondering why they feel so much better.

Usually it's not because we've done anything fancy.

It's because they've finally stopped holding themselves so tightly for an hour.

The funny thing is most of us don't even realise we're doing it.

We're walking around with our shoulders tense.

Our jaw clenched.

Our breathing sitting somewhere up in our chest.

Then we wonder why we feel tired.

Life gets busy. I get it.

Between work, family, appointments, messages, bills and trying to remember what's for dinner, it's easy to spend most of the day running on autopilot.

That's why I love yoga.

Not because it magically fixes everything.

But because it gives us a chance to notice.

To take a breath.

To move a little.

To check in with how we're actually feeling.

Sometimes the biggest achievement in a yoga class isn't touching your toes or balancing on one leg.

Sometimes it's simply realising you've been holding your shoulders up around your ears all week!

So consider this your friendly reminder.

Drop your shoulders.

Take a slow breath.

Unclench your jaw.

And maybe have a little stretch while you're at it.

Your neck will thank you.

Until next time, stop carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders. 🌿
